March 2017- Letter from Lui

Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) is right around the corner! Throughout the month of April, there are a variety of ways to get involved. To kick it off, we will be holding our 4th Annual Gala, Cheers to Change, on April 7th which will undoubtedly be the best yet!

Cheers to Change couldn’t come at a better time this year. At VSC, we are seeing an increase in survivors coming forward seeking immediate help. We are so grateful for the opportunity to come together as a community in support of survivors of violence. By attending this event, you will be contributing to our mission of ending violence and supporting programs and services that save lives.

Another way to get involved this April is to join the Denim Day  movement! On April 26th, businesses, schools, organizations, and community members will come together to raise awareness about the issues surrounding sexual violence. On the evening of April 26th, you’ll also see landmarks throughout Central Florida lit in teal including the Lake Eola Fountain and Amway Center.

To bring SAAM to a close, we have partnered with the Osceola County Sexual Assault Response Team and are holding a free daylong conference at Valencia College – Osceola Campus on Friday, April 28th. The conference is for professionals who respond to victims of sexual violence. We appreciate the opportunity to work with our partners in victim services with a common mission- to best serve victims of violence.

It is our hope that this April, you will join us and make a difference.

Whether you attend Cheers to Change, wear denim on Denim Day, share a social media post, make a donation, or spread a message of hope– every single bit of it counts.

We hope to see you this April!

Sincerely,

Lui Damiani, Executive Director

Victim Service Center of Central Florida
