Our team would like to extend our deepest sympathy and condolences to the families and those impacted by the horrible tragedy that took place on June 12th, 2016. We are heartbroken and saddened to see this level of pain and suffering in our great community. But, Orlando is strong. We are a city that represents love, acceptance, and peace. Throughout this tragedy, we have been in awe of the community support and the outpouring of love.
In the past several weeks, we have received countless inquiries from people wanting to help. We are reaching out to you because you have expressed an interest in getting involved and providing support for the victims, victims’ families, witnesses, and our community. We have compiled a list of opportunities below.
Become a VSC Volunteer
Throughout the year, volunteers assist with our daily operations to ensure each victims’ needs are being met. Given the recent tragedy, we are in need of additional help to support our community and those we serve. Depending on your background, skills, and areas of interest, we are in need of volunteers to assist with our office line, interact with clients, and help with client files.
Due to the sensitive nature of our services and the clients we serve, it is important that VSC volunteers are properly vetted, screened, and receive comprehensive training. Individuals interested in volunteering must:
- Attend a Volunteer Orientation
- Complete a Volunteer Application
- Complete a Level 2 Background Screening
- Complete Training Hours before Working Directly with a Crime Victim
If you are interested in becoming a VSC Volunteer and would like more details about VSC’s Volunteer Program, join us for one of our scheduled Volunteer Orientations. For dates and to RSVP for an upcoming Volunteer Orientation, please email Shannon at Shannon.Batten@VictimServiceCenter.org.
